Wednesday, July 21st. Johnny (boyfriend) arrived in NOLA and, as is our tradition, we immediately began preparations for the kids’ performance slated for Friday morning. We ran around purchasing supplies from the Dollar Tree and settled into the apartment for an evening of touching up the Big Boys’ giant silhouettes, painting the Little Boys’ t-shirts, and fixing up the Little Girls’ t-shirts. The silhouettes are SO COOL! We used white paint pens to fill the bodies with powerful words from the boys’ poems. I’ll be revisiting this technique with my 3rd trimester kiddos back in Culver City. The little kids’ tees look adorable and we’re ready for whatever Thursday’s rehearsal brings. 2am and it’s time for bed. Enjoy the pics! That's me splashing paint onto the Little Boys' tees and that's a silhouette prior to getting the words added in. Note that the silhouette is the length of my king size bed. Those banners covered every available floor space in the apartment. Finished product photos will post in the next blog or two.
